Born in 1978, Emily Deschanel followed not in the footsteps of her father, acclaimed cinematographer Caleb Deschanel, but in the footsteps of her mother, Mary Jo, and her younger sister, Zooey, by becoming an actress. A graduate of Boston University's Professional Actor Traning Program, Emily found it hard to get the kind of recognition and success that Zooey was getting, but, at long last, her career is starting to get her noticed in Hollywood.
